Below are brief summaries of each of the church-run orphan care ministries with whom we partner in Zimbabwe and Zambia. For more details, click the title of each project to see the profile of that ministry at www.ForgottenVoices.org
ZIMBABWE
Christian Leadership Resource Centre, Bulawayo
Impact:
- Ongoing support and resources for 300 pastors
- 800 pastors trained in project management workshops
Partners: Theological College of Zimbabwe, Christian AIDS Taskforce, Scripture Union, Habakuk Trust, Others
Foundations for Farming – Matopos Region
Impact:
- Agricultural training and supplies for an antipated 700 farms/year, depending on supply costs
- Harvest estimated to feed 7,000 individuals/year
- School fee payments made for 750 children otherwise unable to afford them
Free Methodist Church Project, Magwegwe North
Impact:
- School fee payments made for 102 children orphaned by AIDS
- Professional skills training for 1 community member
- Camps/retreats for 25 youth to “get away and be kids”, while receiving needed grief counseling & support
- Food supplies for 100 people provided 4 times a year
- Implementing Foundations for Farming training for needy families in the community

Abandoned Children’s Ministry
Impact:
- Currently caring for 30 abandoned children, plus providing staff salaries and general operations to maintain a consistent environment for the children
Mtshabezi National AIDS Programme, BICC
Impact:
- School fee payments for 2,400 children otherwise unable to afford them
- Voluntary HIV testing for 400 clients
- Support for 125 schools participating in Peer Education Programme
- 800 volunteer home-based care workers trained
- 500 home-based care supply kits distributed to needy families

The Rock Church – Worrington, Bulawayo
Impact:
- School fee payments made for 30 elementary school students
- Community farm to feed 23 children
- New well and pump producing 300L/minute providing clean water to an estimated 500-1,000 people
Theological College of Zimbabwe (TCZ) Leadership in HIV/AIDS Care Development Fund, Bulawayo
Impact:
- Training and education provided for 168 TCZ alumni involved in HIV/AIDS relief work

ZAMBIA
BICC Compassionate Ministries, Choma
Impact:
- Providing a variety of support services to 100 children, 25 high school students, 4 pregnant women & their families
Partners: Mennonite Central Committee, TEAR FUND UK, BIC World Missions
Brethren in Christ Church Orphan Care Project, Copperbelt
Impact:
- School fees and other services provided for 100 orphaned children
- Assistance provided for 10 home-based care patients
- Empowering, sustainable training in microfinance and other care provided for 60 widows
CURE International AIDS Relief Project, Lusaka
Impact:
- Supplemental nutritional support for 100 pediatric patients who are also HIV-positive
- Skills training for the mothers of hospitalized HIV-positive children

Free Methodist Church Project, Ndola
Impact:
- School fees and other requirements satisfied for 26 elementary school children forced to drop out of school
Kabushi Evangelical Church of Zambia Orphan Care Project, Ndola
Impact:

Banana orchard at the church plot generates income for the church’s orphan care ministry
Kawama Evangelical Church of Zambia “Echoes of Mercy” Ministry, Ndola
Impact:
- School fees and other requirements satisfied for 35 orphaned children
- Community garden provides vegetables, particularly for the elderly community members who are caring for orphaned children
- Provides HIV/AIDS awareness programs to church members and surrounding community
Partners: Firelight Foundationk, USA; SOS Village, Kitwe
Lubuto Church of Christ Project, Ndola
Impact:
- School fees and other requirements satisfied for 80 orphans (53 elementary, 27 high school) forced to drop out of school
- Sewing training empowerment project for 32 widows
- Purchase of a hammer mill to grind mealie (corn) in the community, thereby generating income to sustain the project and providing food supplements for children and their caretakers
- Plans to host semi-annual retreats for children who have been orphaned, with a focus on psycho-social support and care
Ndeke Evangelical Church of Zambia, Ndola
Impact:
- School fees and other requirements satisfied for 48 children forced to drop out of school
- 20 volunteer home-based care workers trained
- Health and nutritional services for orphaned children and their caretakers in the community
New Life Ministries Church “Mercy Ministries“, Ndola
Impact:
- School fees and other requirements satisfied for 50 orphans forced to drop out of school
- Purchased and repaired sewing machines for skills training classes
- 60 widows trained in tailoring skills and equipped with start-up fabric
Northrise Evangelical Church of Zambia Project, Ndola
Impact:
- School fees and other requirements satisfied for 17 orphans and vulnerable children, including post-high school skills training
- 15 vulnerable households trained in entrepreneurship and provided with access to micro-loans, thereby being empowered socially and economically
Theological College of Central Africa (TCCA) Leadership in HIV/AIDS Care Development Fund, Ndola
Impact:
- Training and education provided for 200 TCCA alumni involved in HIV/AIDS relief work

Vineyard Feeding Program Twapia, Ndola
Impact:

Forgotten Voices partnership ensures that school fees and other requirements are satisfied for 75 orphans and vulnerable children
*Feeding program sponsored by Vineyard Columbus (Columbus, OH) feeds an additional 75 children. This brings the total number of children under their care and assistance to 150.
