I received a TEN TOGETHER Response Card and filled it out. What do I do with it now?

You can register online under Get Involved, without sending in the card. If you would like us to register you, you can mail it to Forgotten Voices at 1215 Gettysburg Pike, Dillsburg, PA 17019. Also, you may be able to drop it in the offering plate and the church can get it to us at Forgotten Voices. Also, please add your church’s name or team name in the white box (upper right).

What if I don’t have TEN people yet? Can I still participate?

Absolutely. No need to wait until you have ten people involved. You can get started alone, for with three, six, etc. Ten is a manageable number we use because the average costs are $10/month/kid, factoring in credit card charges and administration. When people are in groups of TEN, there is a clearer sign that a team can really achieve change for TEN kids in Africa. Each person in a team helps ONE kid, so a team of TEN helps TEN kids. But, a team of three helps three and so on. Don’t let your group size stop you from getting involved.

I want to share this with my friends. How can I spread the word? Do you have materials?

You can share the campaign through several tools on our website. We have a materials section that includes fliers, cards, and participant guides, as well as information on Forgotten Voices. Also, on the homepage, there is a section on the bottom left that reads “Stay Involved.” These buttons include Facebook, Twitter, and a Share function that looks like an envelope, among others. If you need something else to help you, don’t hesitate to email us or use the Contact Us form.

I don’t know how to pick a site to volunteer with my team. Any ideas?

What if I have more than TEN? What should we do?

Consider starting two groups. For instance, if you are in a small group with 10 or more, make two groups and invite your friends, neighbors, or coworkers outside of your existing group. It’s not just about raising more money, but serving your neighbors together too. Keep in mind, each person you add helps us help one more child.

Where do the funds go after I give?

Funds are distributed by Forgotten Voices through our network of carefully selected, vetted ministries in Zimbabwe and Zambia. The average child’s costs typically break down as follows: $45-60/school fees for the school year, $25-30 for counseling/retreat camps, $10 for seed & fertilizer, $20 for clothes and other school supplies. $10 a year goes to administrative costs to oversee the projects. $10 a year goes to credit card transaction fees. The average total cost works out to $120/kid.

How are projects selected in Africa?

Churches go through a 6-18 month process to develop and implement their local orphan care plans. These plans get vetted by a local Board in Africa and then approved by a USA Board of Directors. Staff in Africa and the USA play a very active role in preparing projects for success.

How will I hear back about what happens with the funds?

Every month, on the 10th, you will receive an update via email regarding the project so far. Also, each 10th of the month, we will have a 30 min phone call to go over the project’s success. At the year end, you will also receive a summary of the year to date successes, challenges, and road ahead for Forgotten Voices. You can also follow along during the month via twitter, the blog, and the Forgotten Voices’ website.

Can I go to Africa and see the work? Can I meet the kids I’m helping?

Given the nature of our local people, local projects emphasis, we do not facilitate opportunities for people to go to Africa to interact with the work directly. However, if you represent a church or ministry that is helping guide people to supporting the work, we are happy to take you. We believe fully in transparency and want to make sure your ministry gets to testify to the work, if this is helpful. However, if you are desiring to just go to Africa, we recommend other ministries to better reach your goals. For a holistic & educational experience, we recommend using Adventures in Missions.

My church is interested in doing this, but we need help getting it started. Who can we call?
