Peterson, now 15, our original inspiration.
Ultimately, our TEN TOGETHER campaign is about the kids we are empowering through partnerships with local churches in Zimbabwe and Zambia. All of the support for TEN TOGETHER goes to support our work at Forgotten Voices.
Like the lessons we have learned from pastors in southern Africa, our campaign is based on the premise that we can accomplish infinitely more together than we ever could individually. It is about the realization that our world is shrinking and problems an ocean away are really not that far from home. It is an experiment in activism and awareness; focused on social and economic conditions of our global family.
It doesn’t take a lot of time, or a lot of money, or access to political power. All it takes is a small team of people who want to make a change in the world and still believe that we can.
Sadly, an all too common sight. 1,000 children become orphaned every day in Zimbabwe and Zambia.
Through TEN TOGETHER, we hope that all across the country, small teams of ten or more people come together and publicly declare that we will no longer wait for someone else to fix the problems, relieve the pain, and release the suffering in our world. AIDS has taken away enough hope. It’s time we give hope to churches in Africa who are saying YES, WE WILL CARE FOR THESE CHILDREN ORPHANED BY AIDS. It’s time we helped bring hope to our communities because Jesus loves us and our still hurting world.
TEN TOGETHER is a campaign to support our work at Forgotten Voices International, which is equipping local churches in southern Africa to meet the physical and spiritual needs of children orphaned by AIDS. Through supporting these Forgotten Voices, we are equipping the church to help those who can not help themselves. We are making a difference and the local churches we support are saving lives.
